Run for the Kids participants run across the Bolte Bridge in Melbourne.

A bumper crowd of 28,000 joined in the Herald Sun/Transurban Run for the Kids last Sunday, running, walking and wheeling their way to raising $1.2 million for the Royal Children’s Hospital’s Good Friday Appeal.

Celebrating its 19th event, Run for the Kids offers a unique way to explore Melbourne. Participants can choose between the 4.7 km course that takes them over the iconic Bolte Bridge, or the 14.4 km course that includes a rare tour of the Domain Tunnel. These are spots most people only see from behind the wheel, making this event a special opportunity to experience the city from a different perspective.

All up, participants and their supporters raised a whopping $1.2 million for the Royal Children’s Hospital’s Good Friday Appeal, with Transurban donating $100,000. Run for the Kids had now raised a massive $24.1 million for the Good Friday Appeal since 2006.The event was a sell-out, with many return runners saying they relish the festive vibes.

Transurban has been supporting this event since the first race in 2006 – helping raise vital funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital. Our CEO, Michelle Jablko was on the course with Transurban’s 600-strong team of employees, family and friends:

“Run for the Kids is always a special event for Transurban, and this year was no exception. It was fantastic to see so many Victorians come together to support such a worthy cause, raising funds for The Royal Children's Hospital and supporting their family, friends and our wider community.”

Rebecca Cowan, Executive Director Good Friday Appeal thanked participants, donors, sponsors and volunteers for their unwavering support:

“Your incredible support is vital in ensuring that The Royal Children's Hospital continues to deliver world-class care.”
