The Transurban DriveLink vehicle is being put to good use in Melbourne’s inner north-west, supporting a new program providing free meals to locals who may be struggling to make ends meet.
Transurban’s DriveLink program offers driver training to newly-arrived migrants and refugees in Melbourne’s inner north, and during COVID-19 the car is being used to further support locals in need, delivering meals for Moonee Valley Council’s new initiative, Mamma’s Kitchen.
Fourteen women from the nearby Flemington and Ascot Vale housing estates have been employed as part of the Victorian Government’s Working for Victoria initiative. Mamma’s Kitchen is making 900 culturally-appropriate meals each week for 120 local households who may be under financial stress or finding it difficult to secure food.
